Prayer Guides

With the permission of Dr. Kevin Meador and Prayer Closet Ministries we have posted some very helpful prayer guides below. Please use these helpful guides to pray effectively for Bridges For Youth and the kids that we minister to.

Praying For Spiritual Awakening Among Students

Spirit-Pray that the Holy Spirit would powerfully move among the young people. Plead that His power would fall on them and meet their particular spiritual needs. Pray that He would convict and call lost youth to the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray that He would convict and renew the faith and commitment of saved youth. Ask Him to reveal His mighty power in the lives of young people (John 16:7-11; Psalm 80).

Confession-Pray fervently that young people will acknowledge their sin. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal their sin to them in fresh and powerful ways and that He will move them to confess their sins. Pray that God would grant repentance to young people. Ask Him to create within them a hunger for the God, His Word, and holiness of life (Psalm 51; Acts 3:19; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Psalm 42:1-2).

Homes-Ask God to transform the homes of the young people. Pray that the Holy Spirit would bless the marriages of the parents/guardians. Plead that the parents/guardians and the children will have good and healthy relationships. Pray that their homes would be places where Christ is exalted and the Word of God is the foundation (Ephesians 5:22-6:4; Proverbs 5:15-23; Psalm 127).

Obstacles-Pray that any obstacles to this awakening would be removed by the Holy Spirit. Ask God to deal with anything that might hinder the experience of a genuine work of the Holy Spirit. Pray that Satan's plans for these young people would be destroyed. Plead that he will have no effectiveness in getting a stronghold in their lives and in destroying their lives (Ephesians 4:30; 1 Peter 5:8-9; John 8:44).

Openness-Pray that the young people will have openness to the Word of God. They are hearing so many messages. Ask God to give them a hunger for the Word of God. Pray that the lost youth will be open to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. Plead that the believing youth will build their lives on the Word of God (1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Leaders-Pray that God would raise up young people who have a heart for Him and for spiritual awakening. Ask Him to mold young men and women who will the vessels through which He can send awakening. Pray that He will give these young people a fearless and relentless attitude toward God, His Word, and spiritual awakening (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Praying for Students in the Schools

Father, I pray that the lost students of ___________________ will surrender to Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of their lives. Show them their lostness and their need of Jesus. Have mercy on them and saved them through Your Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:1-16; John 6:44; Matthew 11:28).

Father, protect the believing students of _____________________ from evil, worldly influences. Give them the power and courage to say "NO!" to sinful peer pressure. Grant them the discernment to see through the empty and foolish values, ideas, and behavior of the world that is in rebellion against You (Proverbs 1:10-19; 1 Corinthians 15:32; 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1; 1 John 2:15-17).

Father, I ask that the students of __________________ will develop healthy relationships with others. Teach them how to relate to others with compassion, respect, and understanding. Set them free from developing unhealthy relationships with the opposite sex (Exodus 20:12-17; Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 22:39; Ephesians 4:32).

Father, I plead in the name of Jesus that You will grant a spirit of purity among the students of _________________. I pray that You would deliver them from immoral talk and actions. Show them the evil and the rebellion of sexual immorality. Grant them healthy and pure relationships with members of the opposite sex. Convict those that are sexually active and lead them to seek Your forgiveness and help and then abstain from sex until marriage. Strengthen and encourage those who are virgins to continue in this until marriage (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5; Hebrews 13:4).

Father, I pray in the name of Jesus that Satan's schemes for the students of _______________ will be destroyed. I plead that he will be bound and that he will not work powerfully among the students. Render his malicious and destructive plans totally ineffective (1 Peter 5:8-9; James 5:16).

Father, I ask for a powerful and deep work of the Holy Spirit among the students of _________________. I plead that He will do a powerful and gracious work in their hearts. Holy Spirit, release Your power in this school and meet the particular spiritual needs of the students (John 16:7-11; 2 Chronicles 7:14; Psalm 42:1-2).

Praying for Bridges Staff and Volunteers

Father, I plead that Staff and Volunteers will be filled with the Holy Spirit and will daily walk in His power (Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:16).

God, I plead that You will protect Staff and Volunteers from the attacks of Satan and his demons (Romans 15:30-31; 2 Thessalonians 3:2-3).

I pray that You will make Bridges For Youth's ministry exceedingly fruitful and that You will glorify Yourself through this ministry (2 Thessalonians 3:1).

Lord, I pray that You will create in the Staff members and Volunteers a servant's heart (Philippians 2:5-10).

I ask that Staff and Volunteers will live and labor each day for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Father, I plead that Staff and Volunteers will be a vessel through which the love of God can flow to others (Romans 5:5; John 13:34-35).

Father, I plead that You will continually protect the Staff and Volunteers from all harm and ask that You would strengthen them physically (Genesis 2:7).

I pray that Staff and Volunteers will be growing in humility (1 Peter 5:5-6).

I ask You to create a thankful heart in the Staff members and Volunteers especially in times of difficulty (Ephesians 5:20).

I ask that the Staff and Volunteers will labor from godly motives and not from a desire to please people (2 Corinthians 4:2).
